THE ANNE-MARIE CHRONICLES
BOOK TWO - THE MALTESE AFFAIR
Thanks to the intervention by members of a mysterious future matriarchy known as the ‘peoples of Gaia’, Anne-Marie Richardson, a young woman from late-twentieth century England, has been granted the privilege of visiting three alternative history ‘probability worlds’. In the first she encountered the Amazon-like Femyny, a classical era matriarchy battling against an early-Roman Latium League.
Next she found herself in a twentieth century Malta which was still part of the Kingdom of Naples, where history had diverged sometime in the late-eighteenth century, but whose collective European anciens régimes were being threatened by the ‘New Way’, a Gnostic quasi-matriarchy originating from the Middle East and North Africa.
Lastly, and this time accompanied by other ‘temporal-dimensional itinerants’, including one of her companions from the Femyny world, she visited another twentieth century England, but politically fragmented following the destructive ‘Great War of 1917-25’ over three decades earlier, at the end of which a biologically-engineered pandemic had devastated the male population, leaving the now-majority female survivors having to reconstruct a new, post-catastrophe society, with new rules, rationale and hierarchy.
Each world was, therefore, not only either a fully-fledged or developing matriarchy, with external, or sometimes internal, enemies, but also, Anne-Marie now knew, threatened by the agents of another mysterious future probability world society known as ‘the Commonwealth of the True Path’.
Eventually she returned again to the ‘New Way’ world, accompanied by both her new companions and her lover, the English-born painter Damian Munday, but this time to the Piedmontese Italian frontier-town of Nizza - in our world better known as Nice. However, it is back in post-Revolutionary Malta, that, after further adventures and danger, they began to unravel and comprehend the complex chain of events and circumstances that ultimately linked the destiny of the ‘Three Worlds’ together…
The fifth book in the saga, this continues on from "The Nizza Affair". This has still to be published. This tied up all the loose ends and mysteries from the previous books.
